Grilled Dessert Bananas

I had heard about grilling bananas in their peel and just had to make them. My kids love bananas, so I thought these bananas would be the perfect dessert for them. Turns out I was wrong, the kids just looked at them like, "What did she do to our bananas?" However, the adults loved them!

All you have to do is make a slit in the banana and stuff it full of delicious toppings, then grill it on LOW until outside of banana peel is brown. I used chocolate chips, marshmallows and chopped peanuts in ours, but there is an array of toppings I would like to try. A few I have thought of are:

coconut
caramel pieces
pineapple
sprinkles (gotta have the sprinkles!)
peanut butter baking chips
granola
hot fudge syrup - no need for preheating
diced strawberries
brownie bits

Just serve these over ice cream, maybe adding some whip cream and a cherry for the ultimate banana split! They are also wonderful served on a plate by themselves, with a spoon. Enjoy!

I LOVE these!! The first time I experienced them was as a counselor at church camp. We adults loved them and the kids (10-12 y.o.)practically inhaled them.

What a neat idea .... almost like a lower-fat banana split if you had them by themselves! :) Thank you for sharing at All My Bloggy Friends last week. I can't wait to see what you share this tomorrow!
