Nothing is better than getting together with friends and family {most of them anyway} for a backyard bash during the hot grilling season of summer. It feels great to connect with the ones that we love and share quality time together. Now, before you start thinking I am getting all sappy with this post - you just hold on. One thing I've learned about family is this: they can't all agree, all the time. For the most part everyone can be harmonious and still live peaceful together, even through varying points of view. But boy, there is something about the high-rising temperatures that can make even the most accepting and patient person a little on edge. A little irritable, let's say. My secret {and pre-emptive} weapon against these possible heat-crazed situations from arising - serve cold drinks and keep those glasses full!!

To keep my guests cool this upcoming weekend, we will be serving these Coconut-Cherry Dr Pepper Floats. The floats are cold, creamy, sweet and best of all - made at home, with little time and minimal effort. Coconut and cherry are two of my favorite flavors from the summer months and they taste absolutely delightful with Dr Pepper. I mixed the Dr Pepper with coconut cream and grenadine, topped with cherry ice cream and then garnished with toasted coconut and of course, more cherries.

Nestle Girl Scout Crunch Ice Cream Bars #Cookies2Crunch

Nestle has recently released a Limited Edition candy bar that had me racing heading straight to the store - Girl Scout Crunch Bars. Let's just take a moment and talk about this. First off, I was a Girl Scout - so the name sparked my interest. I spent hours of my childhood hawking Girl Scout cookies out in front of the grocery store. It may not sound like fun to an adult - but it was so much fun as a kid! It gave me a forever-bond with Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs. :) Second - Nestle Crunch Bars were my favorite candy bar as a child, so I am already game to try any variant that they release. These Nestle Girl Scout Crunch Bars are like memories from my past being mashed together and sold at the stores in the cutest packaging.

The 4th of July is a huge day at the Hungry Harps house - not only is it the day of our annual Independence Day bash but it's also Mr. Hungry Harps' first day of summer break. {he is a college instructor} Lots of celebrating going on and lots of fun to be had!! One thing that is a total requirement on the 4th is coffee. It is a guarantee that we will be up late on July 3rd getting ready for the festivities and then turning around and waking up at some unholy hour on the 4th - it's all part of our tradition... However, this year even I'm excited to wake up with the sun rising - and it's all because of the most awesome gift I've received in a while. {a gift that will help me quickly learn how to make iced coffee!!}

Here is a clue...

German Chocolate Cake Smoothies {smoothies with almond milk}

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and it's advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias #SilkAlmondBlends

There is one thing I am sure of: Summers were made for smoothies. Or maybe it's that smoothies were made for summer. Either way, the Hungry Harps house is full of smoothies during this hot season. For the most part we enjoy fruit smoothies with almond milk - after all, summertime means an abundance of fresh fruit and a smoothie is a quick way to get those nutrients to the kiddos. However, sometimes we have to cheat. Like putting the fruit aside and busting out the brownie chunks. Why not? Everyone's gotta live a little. These German Chocolate Cake Smoothies are my newest binge cheat.

Cheesy Pineapple Dip with Bacon

Although this blog post is for a recipe, I would also like to think of it as a Public Service Announcement. The reason being is that this Cheesy Pineapple Dip with Bacon is the absolute bee's knees and should be served at every party this summer season - and then every season after that. And then every other party you ever go to. Just sayin...

If I was a chip I would make love to this dip.

15 Ways to Enjoy Eggs & Salsa Together

Hi. We are the Hungry Harps and we're addicted to eggs and salsa.{true story}

Seriously, we really do love eggs and salsa. Every month we go through 10 dozen eggs {for real} and I can only imagine what the count is going to jump to as the kiddos get older... And then there is salsa. Mr. Hungry Harp and I lucked out in that all 4 of our kids like salsa like we do. {I knew those late-night trips to Adalbertos while pregnant would pay off!!} I was recently looking for 1 recipe with eggs and salsa, but ended up finding these 15 and just had to share. Enjoy!

Cream Cheese & Cherry Sweet Rolls

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Good Cook, as part of the Good Cook Kitchen Experts program. All opinions are honest and 100% my own.

What to do when life gives you cherries? Make Cream Cheese & Cherry Sweet Rolls of course! The inspiration for these sweet treats were those delicious cream cheese breakfast pastries. You know, the kind that will give you one awesome bite of cream cheese, right in the center? Oh yeah, those are my favorite. However, I didn't feel like using puff pastry - I wanted to make something from scratch and not have it take all day. So, my mind started drifting around to other breakfast goodies I've made and the Leftover Pumpkin Pie Cinnamon Rolls popped in my head. Throw in some leftover cherries and before I knew it these Cream Cheese & Cherry Sweet Rolls were created. Then devoured.

Before we get to how to make those delicious sweet rolls - I must share with you an awesomely amazing sweepstakes that is going on right now. Last week I mentioned The Build Your Kitchen Drawer Sweepstakes being hosted by Good Cook. There are numerous ways to win and a wide assortment of prizes to be won. My favorite part of the whole promotion is that you have a chance to win 15 items that YOU pick out from Good Cook's website {each eligible item will be clearly marked with a "ADD ME"icon}. Also, with every drawer you build you have a chance at winning an instant prize!
